The band's new record, Day & Age,  will not be better than Hot Fuss or Sam's Town if the new songs "Human" or "Spaceman" are any representation of it. Still, The Killers have undeniable potential to craft inspiring songs.

Here's a video of yet another Day & Age song. This one's called "Losing Touch".

UPDATE (10/28 11:24pm): The Killers have just announced their tour dates for Day & Age: the first show is in London, then they come back to the US and hit up the major cities, then back to Europe.

It looks like they'll be playing it safe, keeping the same ol' Killers sound we know and love. The recordings are from the Highline Ballroom in NYC, and although the audio/video quality isn't good by any means, it's a nice preview.

Note: these tracks are not in final form. The Killers have stated they would simply "test out" a few songs from the new album.

The band metaphorically ran over a padestrian with last year's Sawdust, but we trust Brandon and friends will pull through and keep up their streak of quality studio albums.

The producer is Stuart Price, a British musician who actually made a decent remix of "Mr. Brightside". The band has been sending recordings to Price over the internet, and phone conferencing about them.

"We've got some new songs, but there's a long way to go before they're ready for an album," bassist Mark Stoermer says. Looks like The Killers are doing a bit more planning after their premature Sawdust that was a collection of mostly below average B-sides.

"So far, they're different than Sam's Town, but nothing that we write surprises me. Some are a bit stripped down for us — whatever that means. Some have the vibe of [Price's] 'Thin White Duke Remix' of 'Mr. Brightside.' We talk about what we want for the album, but inevitably, it always gets away from us."

We have a few tentative track titles to feed your Killers hunger while you wait till November:

  • "Dreamland"
  • "Burning Up"
  • "Metropolis"
  • "Tidal Wave" - influenced by David Bowie's "Drive-In Saturday" and "I Drove All Night" by Roy Orbison (Q Magazine)
  • "Neon Tiger"
  • "Emerald City"
