A handful of big names overlap with Bonnaroo, but that's not a bad thing considering how far apart they are from each other: Sasquatch is in Washington state and Bonnaroo (lineup) is in Tennessee. Both still have more artists to add, but already it seems like both are upgraded from last year. I don't think Bonnaroo can be called a jam band festival anymore, but it's a wee bit more chill than its intensely indie counterpart. West Coast, start rounding up the troops.

Silversun Pickups have finally started recording a new album. It seems much longer than two years since 2006's Carnavas, as "Little Lovers So Polite" is still popping up a lot on radio stations, and it's apparently a 2008 single.

Recording for the new album entitled Swoon began mid-July and despite hitting some "technical difficulties" the band explains on their blog, drummer Christopher Guanlao seems more than enthusiastic about the band's progress thus far in the recording process.

Swoon has 17 tracks and the Alternative Press reports that instead of having "a straight forward mid-tempo sound", "some songs are very quiet and delicate, [while] others are just fucking loud."

The first single off the new album is called "Table Scraps".

Christopher sums it up at the end of his most recent "journal" post:

"so here we are. back in the studio. resuming guitars. we're getting down and dirty now. deadlines are in place. album art work starting to be discussed. album credits accumulating. we're on our way...

sorry for the silence.

thank you for being patient.

thank you for caring.

we look forward to seeing you at Monolith and ACL."
