Cudi makes a bold statement by choosing his 3rd single, titled "Pursuit Of Happiness", so close to the September 15th release date. Cudi's first lines from the song : "Crush A Bit; Little Bit; Roll It Up; Take A Hit Feelin’ Lit". Seems like he would promote either "Day N Night" or "Make Her Say" to appeal to the more mainstream crowd watching late night television. Regardless, we get to see Kid and Ratatat performing this song live for the first time and they do pretty well. I wish MGMT would have shown for the background vocals that are on the actual album track. Be sure to grab a couple of tracks from the album below the video, or if you are bold, the album did leak a few days ago.

Both still have more artists to add, but already it seems like both are upgraded from last year. I don't think Bonnaroo can be called a jam band festival anymore, but it's a wee bit more chill than its intensely indie counterpart. West Coast, start rounding up the troops.

The king of summer festivals is back on the beautiful 700-acre Manchester farm in June (11th-14th), and the announcement of (some of) the performers came this morning.

The lineup is packed full of big names and great accompanying artists. Metallica and Kanye are gone this year (YES!), and Phish is bringing back Bonnaroo as a jam band festival, doing two shows over the four days. It could use a dosage of hip-hop though, so hopefully that comes with the next announcement (last year I got front row for Lupe Fiasco and Talib Kweli followed - needless to say it was a highlight of the festival). Other than that, the lineup is spectacular. We'll let you know when more artists get announced.

See the whole thing at bonnaroo.com. Tickets go on sale Feb. 7. The first wave sold out already (before the artists were even announced), so the next price level is $234.50, then $249.50 once those sell out.

What an incredible match up. Kevin Barnes, frontman from of Montreal, and Andrew Vanwyngarden, lead singer of MGMT, are going to take psychedelic rock to a new level. Their upcoming side project, Blikk Fang, is planing to head into the studio in early 2009. The two met while touring together in 2005 and 2007.

According to a recent Rolling Stone interview with Kevin Barnes, their debut LP is "probably gonna be a pretty schizophrenic, crazy album". Should we expect anything else from these two? They are planning to enlist the skills of producer Jon Brion, who has worked on projects with the likes of Kanye West, Aimee Man, Dido, Spoon, Keane, and Elliott Smith.

Barnes admitted that they have been wanting to do the project for a while, but have been waiting for both of their schedules to be clear. That might be a problem considering the success of MGMT's Oracular Spectacular and of Montreal's Skeletal Lamping, which both happen to be in the running for Music Leech Top 25 Albums of the Year (slated to come out around the new year).

Although they have "actually created about 20 minutes of music" so far, the apparent releases from Blikk Fang over at Pure Volume are nothing but outdated songs from MGMT and of Montreal and will not be on the upcoming album.

In order to accomplish this feat, MGMT has enlisted the help of electronica/dance single kings The Chemical Brothers.

This is big change from when the duo recorded with The Flaming Lips' music producer Dave Fridmann in 2007 for their major label debut, Oracular Spectacular. If you think that this new match-up may be a stretch for the psychadelic rock duo, you are not alone.

VanWyngarden has attempted to quell those concerns by saying that "We'll experiment with them to create a different sound, [but] it won't be dance music." Instead of dance music, MGMT are considering a gigantic double album – one disc of pop music, the other of psychedelia.

If you can't hold out for the album, be sure to check out MGMT's latest EP, Metanoia.

"We’ve been longing to get in the studio for a while because we got out of it recording our last album about a year ago. So we’re definitely ready to start working on some new stuff but I think in January we’re gonna start recording and hopefully put an album out next summer."

The group says they have some of the songs for their next record ready in very basic form, but made no comment about the musical or lyrical make-up of the songs.

Singer Andrew VanWyngarden talked also about improving their live show by adding some "bells and whistles" they currently do without. But after seeing them at Bonnaroo, I can tell you they don’t really need it.
