If you don't know by now, Little Joy is the Strokes' drummer's side project featuring the singer from Los Hermanos, and their debut album is simply a charmer.

Along with the "'60s-styled TV production" as Stereogum fittingly calls it are some cool scene-shifting effects that add to the vintage feel of their last music video for "The Next Time Around".

Speaking of Stereogum, the annual Gummy Awards have been posted! If you're unfamiliar, it's a reader's poll of things like Most Overrated Act, Best Music Video, and even Best Web Video of the year.

I would say 'for whatever reason', but for every reason, Little Joy's album just does it for me. Nice and relaxed, meaningful and contemplative, Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes along with girlfriend Binki Shapiro and Los Hermanos singer/guitarist Rodrigo Amarante have put together one of the most listenable albums of the year.

We compiled loads of content (tracklist, review, videos, polaroids) from their concert last Wednesday at the Lounge in Deep Ellum, TX, and man do they have stage presence. In addition to running through their debut album, they had a few surprises to whip out for the small crowd of about 200: a cover of Helen Shapiro's "Walking Back To Happiness" and a new song which we unfortunately don't have video of. Update 12/2 9:26pm: Helen Shapiro IS Binki's mom!

The album was released on November 4th via Rough Trade Records. You can listen to a few of the songs on the band's myspace.

The video for the single has band members Binki Shapiro, Rodrigo Amarante, and Fabrizio Moretti playing acoustic, huddled around a cramped porch. Although the video may not be a huge production, Little Joy captures the tone of the song quite well. The video may also be a representation of the band's style as a whole; while Little Joy may not supply any music that will significantly alter your life, the sweet melodic rhythms and catchy hooks will keep this record spinning on your non-existant record player for quite some time.

According to Gorilla vs. Bear, we have nothing to worry about. Although the album clocks in just over 30 minutes, it "feels like an authentic, pretense-free effort" and is easily the best Strokes' side project.

Listen now to a song off their upcoming self-titled album called "Keep Me In Mind". Three other tracks are streaming on Little Joy's MySpace.

Last night the band performed at the Indie in San Francisco, and someone was smart enough to bring camera film. Here are some photos from the night, taken from Gorilla vs. Bear:

The group is tentatively named "Little Joy".

Moretti is the second Stroke to start a solo career, following his buddy Albert Hammond, Jr..

The album is due this fall on Rough Trade.

Rolling Stone reports that the collaboration sounds like Antonio Carlos Jobim, Vince Guaraldi and 60s Wall Of Sound girl groups. Interesting to say the least.
