Weezy's busted out a guitar on several depressing but hilarious occassions and despite his lack of ability, he's decided to forge a rock album, due out April 7. It's called Tha Carter III: The Rebirth, but you can kind of dismiss Tha Carter III part because it will feature all new songs that will probably sound much like "Prom Queen", the first cut off the album. You know what to expect..

MP3: Lil' Wayne: "Prom Queen"

UPDATE 1/26 11:06am: Just found out Rebirth won't hold any Carter III prefix.

None of these picks are mind-blowing if you've been keeping up with their record reviews over the past year, so as far as consistency goes, and as a whole, they do a decent job. But a handful of picks seem kinda crazy to me: New Age at #3 (it's good but not that good), Cut Copy at #4 (same deal), and most obviously Kanye at #21 (completely undeserved... it's his worst record to date and even the explanation is weak).

Read the accompanying blurbs here.

Fleet Foxes didn't surprise me at #1 but I don't think you can say they made the best record of year; rather, they came from the middle of nowhere, delivered a collection of excellent songs, and had the best year out of any bands on this list.

Make sure to check back the first few days of January when we post our end-of-year top albums list.

He just doesn't stop making music. At the end of Weezy's most recent ESPN sports blog, he announced his recent work on Tha Carter IV and Dedication 3. The former, which will be part of DJ Drama's "Gangsta Grillz" series, will be posted with 20 extra tracks on his website shortly after it's release.

There are not even ballpark figures for when Tha Carter IV will be released which isn't surprising, but I wouldn't believe them even if I heard them; Tha Carter III was pushed back many a time.

Lil' Wayne is also working on a T-Pain collaboration album, which is looking now at a 2009 release. It's called "T-Wayne", and "three or four songs [are] finished," T-Pain tells Billboard. "They don't really have titles. We're just doing music and however it comes out, it comes out."

And of course, all of this is following Wayne's breakout Tha Carter III which was by far the highest selling album of the year: it went double-platinum in one month.

"Swagger Like Us", a brand new track featuring the collaboration of T.I., Lil' Wayne, Kanye West, and Jay-Z, was leaked on Friday.

The single was meant to debut on T.I.'s forthcoming LP Paper Trails (due 9/30)and may also make an appearance on Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3.

T.I. was startled to hear the news, not ever having leak problems prior. "That's some bullsh--," he told MTV News Saturday afternoon via phone. "I'm beating down the Internet as we speak." Of course he can't be too mad considering the media buzz it's received, but he says unsurprisingly that he would have liked to debut it his way.

The song kicks off with M.I.A. declaring "No one on the corner has swagger like us," which continues & echoes throughout. A kind of "picked apart" simpler instrumental with an off-and-on drum beat sets an interesting stage for Hov and Wayne, but actually gives it a fresh composition after a few listens.
