I'm going to see him next Saturday, and while I was searching the hype machine I found this sick remix to Jay-Z's "December 4th". I don't know the Cannibal OX song but regardless this is one of the best remixes I've heard in a while. RJD2 coming through as usual. By the way if you didn't know (shame on the other blogs you read), RJ's Colossus is coming out in 13 days! Pre-order it here.

This is the first I've heard from DJ Shares who resides in Denver/Boulder CO. This isn't by any means the slickest or surprising remix in the world, but for once I think you can judge a song by it's title. It gets a little sketchy at points, in the chorus especially as it doesn't match up very nicely, but still if you like both of these songs you're sure to have some liking for this. Link below.

2 New Grizzly Bear Remixes

The first comes from ABX of The Hood Internet, a Chicago mash-up duo. Keeps true to the original "Two Weeks" with the same tempo and completely intact vocals.

The second version by Tom Ato is sped up so it sounds weird at first, but ultimately it works: Jay-Z sings at the regular tempo of "99 Problems", the Grizzly Bear vocals aren't ditched (completely), and we get Lil' Jon's "Let's go" which makes basically everything better.

Video: Jay-Z ft. Santogold: “Brooklyn (Go Hard)”

Evan Roth presents... the first ever rap video with open source code! He uses typographic illustration, repeatedly throwing down letters that spell "Brooklyn" to eventually form sweet illustrations of Jay-Z and Biggie.

Why Biggie? The song comes off the Notorious OST, a biographical film starring Jamal Woolard. It's out January 16 via Fox Searchlight.

The track was produced by Kanye West and as you guessed heavily features the "Brooklyn we go hard" sample from "Shove It" off Santogold's debut LP. She pops in for a verse later on.

Evan Roth said via his blog:

"Last week I was contacted to make a video for a new Kanye West produced Jay-Z song for RED & the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. It launched today (World AIDS Day) at red.msn.com. And while I'm happy to be able to help the cause I'm also more than a little bit excited about getting a chance to make something for the likes of Jay-Z and Kanye. I've been turning down client requests to use Typographic Illustration for 5 years in hopes that one day the phone would ring and it would be Hova."

Seems as though the list of endorsements for Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama is never-ending. This is especially the case when it comes to musicians, who tend to be slightly more liberal, and even more the case for artists that might fall under the curtain of 'indie', who tend to be even more liberal.

New Obama benefit concerts are spawning out of nowhere almost every single day:

October 6 - Jay-Z (for free) in Miami, Florida (Last Chance for Change)
UPDATE (10/7 2:34pm): The show was cancelled moments before it was supposed to begin last night, leaving thousands of hip-hop fans utterly disappointed. The reason for the cancellation was Jay-Z's alleged sickness, which organizers said was due to a throat ailment. How lame.

October 7 - Andrew Bird, Les Savy Fav, and The Fiery Furnaces in Brooklyn, New York (Barack Rock)

October 8 - Jim James of My Morning Jacket in Chicago, IL (Obama Victory Fund Benefit)

October 12 - The Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers Band at Penn State (Change Rocks)

October 16 - The National and The Breeders in Cincinnati, OH (Vote Early Rock Late)

Makes us wonder what kind of endorsements Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain is receiving. Oh yeah:

Leaked! “Swagger Like Us” ft. T.I., Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne, Kanye West

"Swagger Like Us", a brand new track featuring the collaboration of T.I., Lil' Wayne, Kanye West, and Jay-Z, was leaked on Friday.

The single was meant to debut on T.I.'s forthcoming LP Paper Trails (due 9/30)and may also make an appearance on Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3.

T.I. was startled to hear the news, not ever having leak problems prior. "That's some bullsh--," he told MTV News Saturday afternoon via phone. "I'm beating down the Internet as we speak." Of course he can't be too mad considering the media buzz it's received, but he says unsurprisingly that he would have liked to debut it his way.

The song kicks off with M.I.A. declaring "No one on the corner has swagger like us," which continues & echoes throughout. A kind of "picked apart" simpler instrumental with an off-and-on drum beat sets an interesting stage for Hov and Wayne, but actually gives it a fresh composition after a few listens.

Jay-Z Talks New LP Due In October

Jay-Z says his new record will feature Kanye West, Timbaland, or both. Speaking to Rolling Stone, HOVA said:

"I'm a person that works off music. If Timbaland makes ten great tracks then he produces the album, if Kanye West makes ten great tracks then he produces the album; if he makes three, I'll take three.

"I let the music dictate the direction. You know I love Timbaland, he is like a brother to me, but until the music is done it's premature."

In other news, it has been hate hate hate on Jay-Z's late June Glastonbury set. I wasn't there, but I listen to it often, and damn, it's a monster of a thing (aka download it now!). Here's what Prefix mag says about it: "Glastonbury '09 Will Play It Safer".
