Grizzly Bear

My Top Albums 2009

I realize I am putting this out really late. I always put this off until winter break, thinking I’ll have tons of time to listen to the albums, but always underestimate how much I actually need to listen to. But honestly, that isn’t a bad thing. I think we are living in a time where [...]

The Notwist – “Boneless” (Grizzly Bear remix)

I was happy enough to see Grizzly Bear and The Notwist in the same sentence, and then I saw that it was a remix for “Boneless”, my favorite song off their latest album The Devil, You + Me. The original single + Panda Bear remix came out over a year ago but I don’t think fans of either band will mind the delay.

Speaking of Grizzly Bear – “Knife”…

I thought I posted this a while ago, but I just checked, and the answer is no. So crucial! Grizzly Bear – Knife (Girl Talk Remix)

PARRKA – Knife/Heartbeats (The Knife vs. Grizzly Bear)

I feel like I knew unconsciously that this existed… I mean it had to, right? Stream: PARRKA – Knife/Heartbeats (The Knife vs. Grizzly Bear)

2 New Grizzly Bear Remixes

The first comes from ABX of The Hood Internet, a Chicago mash-up duo. Keeps true to the original “Two Weeks” with the same tempo and completely intact vocals. The second version by Tom Ato is sped up so it sounds weird at first, but ultimately it works: Jay-Z sings at the regular tempo of “99 Problems”, the Grizzly Bear vocals aren’t ditched (completely), and we get Lil’ Jon’s “Let’s go” which makes basically everything better.

New Music: Grizzly Bear ft. Beach House, Passion Pit, Peter Bjorn and John, Cymbals Eat Guitars, Dept. of Eagles, Doves

Synthesizer Shaikh: A one-man band that sounds kinda like Yeasayer on “The Rise”. He tags it “some mix between electronic, psychedelic, and post-rock.” He started making music in college on his computer with Ableton Live, and spent two years making/mastering his first full-length album, SamIAm. And he’s not charging a penny for it. Get it [...]

Grizzly Bear’s ‘Veckatimest’ Leaks Three Months Early

Here’s the deal folks: out there on the etherwebs, Veckatimest, Grizzly Bear’s fantastic follow-up to 2006′s Yellow House is floating around, but at a crappy bitrate of 128 kbps. I’m not a hardcore Grizzly Bear fan so I decided to hop on the pirate train, but a better quality rip should hit sometime soon if [...]

Sasquatch > Bonnaroo?

I can guarantee one thing: Sasquatch will not pull a Langerado. A handful of big names overlap with Bonnaroo, but that’s not a bad thing considering how far apart they are from each other: Sasquatch is in Washington state and Bonnaroo (lineup) is in Tennessee. Both still have more artists to add, but already it [...]

Bonnaroo Announces 2009 Initial Lineup

The king of summer festivals is back on the beautiful 700-acre Manchester farm in June (11th-14th), and the announcement of (some of) the performers came this morning. The lineup is packed full of big names and great accompanying artists. Metallica and Kanye are gone this year (YES!), and Phish is bringing back Bonnaroo as a [...]
