Homme said that the record could be finished by the end of the November, but the band did not want to put any arbitrary time limitations on the unique crafting that has gone into the album.

Interestingly enough, Homme added to the conversation that "we've got to finish it this time", possibly hinting that Favourite Worst Nightmare may have been rushed to release. Maybe, as a result, we will see a return to the slightly slower tempo that the Monkeys used to burst onto the scene with Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.

They are currently working with Joshua Homme, frontman of Queens of the Stone Age, at his Joshua Tree Recording Studio in Sacramento, California. Look for the new album to be released towards the end of winter.

Although there are only three scheduled dates and no plans to add more, the true fans (well, the reallly true fans) will get a chance to see them live.

The band is new: they released their debut album The Age of the Understatement in April of this year, and an upcoming mostly acoustic EP My Mistakes Were Made For You is on its way.

The band is planning to start recording their next album sometime in 2009, according to Kane.

Dates:

10.29 New York, NY: Late Night With Conan O’Brien
10.30 New York, NY: The Grand Ballroom
11.03 Los Angeles, CA: The Mayan Theater

At the Glastonbury Festival last weekend, Arctic Monkeys guitarist Jamie Cook told BBC 6Music they would start work on their new album in the coming weeks in Alex Turner’s house in Sheffield.

The band's first two albums, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not and Favourite Worst Nightmare, received wide critical acclaim, but the band says they are not sure which direction this album will go. "I don't know yet, we could go any way. I'm excited yeah... End of last year when we had been touring for a long time, we just needed a bit of a rest. But I think as a band we are just eager to get back in and really... I don't know what", said Jamie.

At Glastonbury, Jamie caught part of The Rascal's warm-up set on the Leftfield Stage, and unsurprisingly (they are friends) complimented them on their music and sound. But in more INTERESTING news, he talked about a Monkeys/Rascals supergroup possibility: "Oh it could definitely happen, I could see that! Yeah definitely. That's the best idea I have heard in a long time."

It won't happen for a few months at least, considering Arctic Monkey's frontman Alex Turner and The Rascals singer Miles Kane's new band The Last Shadow Puppets will go on tour in the UK to support their album The Age of the Understatement.
