Strokes' rhythm guitarist is keeping a steady pace nowadays. Ever since releasing Yours To Keep in 2007, Albert has headlined a 128-gig tour that has now included two North American stints along with an extensive European jaunt.

Albert hit the recording studio towards the end of 2007 and released ¿Cómo Te Llama? in July 2008. With more touring still scheduled for YTK, Albert and the band remain in exuberant spirits despite not getting much down time in between records. As Albert reveals on his myspace page: "Our goal is to tour this album everywhere we can, get into those cracks and fill them with music!" He departs for Europe again, but along with Coldplay this time, during September and October 2008.

Most recently, Albert has been working on designing a series of men's suits. It only makes sense; his trademark is wearing formal three-piece suits, and has been said to be the most influential on The Strokes' style. The finished product will appear at Confederacy, a store owned by Danny Masterson of That 70's Show.

This leads us to wonder: What keeps Albert going? In an interview with Pitchfork, Albert revealed that he has been reading How to be Happy All the Time by Paramhansa Yogananda. Maybe this could offer some insight...

Now that you've heard ¿Cómo Te Llama?, it's time to watch it! (or at least the first video)

The new album is heavy on melodies and vocals just like its predecessor, but tracks like "Victory at Monterey" and "Borrowed Time" deviate from Albert's mastered power-pop, and include reggae and new wave influences, which give the album some unanticipated spark.

Albert Hammond, Jr. Tour Dates:
07-08 New York, New York - Virgin Megastore (Union Square) In-Store Performance
07-11 Los Angeles, California - Spaceland
07-30 Melbourne, Victoria - Price Bandroom
08-01 Sydney, New South Wales - The Gaelic Theatre
08-02 Brisbane, Queensland - The Zoo
08-09 Tokyo, Japan - Summer Sonic Festival
08-10 Osaka, Japan - Summer Sonic Festival
08-11 Osaka, Japan - Club Quattro
08-12 Tokyo, Japan - Club Quattro
08-15 Brooklyn, New York - McCarren Park Pool

Then HOPEFULLY (and probably) he and his long due Strokes will take it to the studio, for a late 2009 early 2010 release!

Oh, and if you missed the earlier post, you can find a secret clip of "In My Room" off Albert's upcoming DVD (title TBA)
