Lupe Fiasco – “Kick Push (Killer Tomato Remix)”

by Mark Jackson on December 31st, 2009

Just found this newly uploaded remix over at DJ Killer Tomato’s MySpace. He does mostly (if not only) remixes and mash-ups and this is one of my favorites from him. I’m not sure what the instrumental is, but it fits really well.

New Old Black Moth Super Rainbow Album – The Autumn Kaleidoscope Got Changed

by Mark Jackson on December 30th, 2009

This album was just released despite being the predecessor to the band’s 2003 album Falling Through A Field. Some songs overlap, but most are new. [...]

The Cool Kids & Don Cannon – Merry Christmas Mixtape

by Mark Jackson on December 27th, 2009

Gone Fishing was soooo close to making my must-hear albums of 2009 list, and it looks like this end-of-year surprise from the makers of it is a sign that it should have. These 4 tracks are titled a “Merry Christmas Mixtape”, but it’s not a very good description. They don’t have anything Christmas-y, but they’re [...]

The Temptations vs. Peter Bjorn and John – “Get Ready For The Young Folks” (Controller 7 Mash-Up)

by Mark Jackson on December 26th, 2009

I’ve heard PB&J’s “Young Folks” and remixes for it too many times to count, but this is one of my favorites. Maybe it’s because The Temptations dominate, but who cares.

MisterBradleyP – Xmas Remixed

by Mark Jackson on December 25th, 2009

Here’s an xmas hybrid mix from MisterBradleyP, a DJ and club manager in Cleveland. It kicks off with a Snoop Dogg intro then moves into some easily digestable tunes, mixing hip-hop and R&B with classic xmas songs. It lasts about 30 min.

Download it here.

Bogus – “Holidays”

by Mark Jackson on December 24th, 2009

Despite Christmas being tomorrow, I don’t feel a huge urge to post Christmas music… it’s not that I’m not a fan, I’m just not feelin’ it right now. I think partially it’s because I can’t believe it’s Christmas tomorrow (who does?) and partially because this song I just found over at PleasureCruis’n >> traditional xmas [...]

10 Must-hear Albums from 2009

by Mark Jackson on December 23rd, 2009

So finally, here is my list of “must-hear” albums from this year. I’m a little late to the scene but hopefully you guys aren’t exhausted of these yet. I’ll keep it easy on the reading part. I wasn’t sure what to call this list, but I think that “best of” and “favorite” are overused since [...]

The xx remixed

by Mark Jackson on December 22nd, 2009

Electronic/dubstep duo Mount Kimbie add their own backdrop to one of the xx’s slower, more simple tunes “Basic Space”. You’d almost think this was a publicity stunt or something because of the success of the xx, but it works a lot better than you might expect, creating a sort of parallel listening experience. The core [...]

Danger Mouse and Shins’ Mercer Release First Single as Broken Bells

by Rad Parker on December 22nd, 2009

Yesterday, the freshly formed collaborative project between James Mercer of the Shins and Danger Mouse released their first single under the moniker Broken Bells. Information started getting around about the band sometime in September and this is the first opportunity they have given listeners to hear an entire track. Expect their album sometime in March. [...]

The best xmas gift for Animal Collective fans

by Mark Jackson on December 19th, 2009

Merriweather Post Pavilion kicked off everyone’s year with some crazy album art, so it’s only fitting (no pun intended) to close it out the same way! Stereogum says it’s for your girls…
