The moment Deerhunter fans have been waiting for: the first track off Lotus Plaza’s debut album The Floodlight Collective. “Red Oak Way” has a very “River Card”-y drum beat, layered with a simple but beautiful guitar melody, flowing tambourine, and some ambient precussion effects. Lockett’s voice echoes plenty throughout the song to give it the [...]

Q and company spice up one of the grooviest songs on The Renaissance, with the ex-Tribe Called Quest member filling in nicely for Raphael Siddiq who does the chorus on the record. I had high expectations, but can honestly say they were exceeded. The live guitars, DJ, and drums make it a jamfest, and now [...]

I’m liking Merriweather Post Pavilion the more I listen to it, but its both a natural and unnatural progression for the band. I think its good they are mixing it up, creating new sounds, but I don’t think its their best stuff. Yeah, there are some fabulous songs, but people are saying it’s AC’s best [...]

So by now most have heard of this AIDS compilation that has everyone and their brother on it. Not sure if we have ever seen such a great combination of artists for a compilation. “White Ink” is an instrumental track on the first half of 2006′s amazing Cryptograms, and producer Justin Gaar takes the title quite literally in the video, showing beautiful floating blue ink drops over a white background. It’s a little boring/anticlimactic but it suits the song nonetheless.

The Walkmen perform “On the Water” from their 2008 album You & Me in New York for the French music blog, La Blogotheque, and still sound amazing while riding in a van: At least they had room for the full band this time, when they played “Red Moon”for the Black Cab Sessions last April, the [...]

The people over at Triple-J radio sat down with Bon Iver the other day for the station’s Like a Version segment to discuss various topics and listen to singer-songwriter Justin Vernon play “Creature Fear” from the debut LP For Emma, Forever Ago and give us a falsetto cover of Feist’s “The Park”. Among other things, [...]

Weezy’s busted out a guitar on several depressing but hilarious occassions and despite his lack of ability, he’s decided to forge a rock album, due out April 7. It’s called Tha Carter III: The Rebirth, but you can kind of dismiss Tha Carter III part because it will feature all new songs that will probably [...]
