Watch Radio Soulwax Tour Documentary (One Week Only)
| by Mark Jackson on December 17th, 2008 |
When Soulwax went on their 2006 summer tour of Nite Versions, they decided to make a few changes to step up their live show game. First, they'd invite 2 DJs and a live band of their choice to get the crowd started. Then they'd perform Nite Versions with a live band, and to avoid crashing the the colossal dance party, they'd lose the band and perform as one of their other monikers, 2 Many DJs. When they perform on these nights, they upgrade their name to Radio Soulwax.
The Belgian electro-rock duo brought along Saam Farahmand to document the tour, and it resulted in a documentary entitled Part of the Weekend Never Dies, which Pitchfork has streaming until the 20th.
Justice, Peaches, Klaxons, Digitalism, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, and many others make appearances in the film, giving you tons of info about the Dewaele brothers and their recent music.
The band's "Soulwaxmas" starts tonight in Paris and lasts four days, making stops at Berlin, Rotterdam and Hasselt on the 18, 19, and 20, respectively. They have dates scheduled through the beginning of January.
